New Plan – 2023

Hey, remember this dome from previous posts?

After a couple years of waiting for our main dome home and garage plans, we decided to start with a small, pre-designed house plan so we can get on our property, already!

Catio!

Grover gives the Catio a Curly Tail of Approval!

Our cats love their outdoor space! An additional 46 square feet of play space is a huge addition to our 388 square feet interior (including lofts)! It is pretty cute to see Ziggy’s fur get fluffed by the breezes. Patina loves to hunt the birds and moths, but they are safe from her murderous intentions.… Continue reading Catio!

4 L.F. Library

"Just pick out a book and sit down, so I have a lap," says Ziggy

It continues to be a fun puzzle to best utilize the built-in storage our tiny house has, as well as add our own personal touches. Our books have a new home on the 4′ long 2×8 shelf Jon designed and installed. We really pared down the books to have on hand before we moved. They… Continue reading 4 L.F. Library

Happy Holidays

Desert sunsets are desserts for the eyes

I feel relieved to have finished with the old house and to begin the next phase of our lives. I packed my car with the final load, handed the keys to our realtor, said some goodbyes, and drove to Independence right before a big winter storm hit. Then I was cozy in the tiny house… Continue reading Happy Holidays

Whirlwind Work

Working kitties use ladders

Okay, okay. I haven’t written a blog post for over 2 months. Here’s what we’ve been up to: For the Felton House We finished revamping the bathroom, which involved tearing the old shower out, leveling the floor, installing new backer board, tiles, faucets, tub, and shower door. Our original tub had a crack in it,… Continue reading Whirlwind Work

Tiny House Has Arrived!

The extra large tiny house

I just returned from Independence, where I received our new home! It is lovely and well constructed. I spent a lot of time measuring for furniture we’ll make and curtains, but I also would get distracted by how pretty it is and find myself just staring and daydreaming. Here are some more photos. I forgot… Continue reading Tiny House Has Arrived!

Independence

View East towards Independence from Kearsarge Pass

Happy Independence Day! You know how I wrote at the end of the “Delay” post, that I did some brain storming with Ziggy on how to get to Bishop sooner? I thought to try renting an RV/mobile home spot in Bishop for the Escape Tiny House trailer. Bishop has quite a few mobile home and… Continue reading Independence

Delay

Alath! Delays are dithpicable!

Oh dear! I read the County code and thought all this time that we could work on the temporary power, water, and septic before we had a building permit from the Building Department. Septic is approved by a different department, Environmental Health, and it isn’t spelled out that we can’t get started on that stuff… Continue reading Delay

Temporarily Tiny

Robin and the cats in the Scamp, 2020

We ordered a tiny house on wheels, so we can live on our property while we build the dome house. The tiny house movement has grown since it first came on our radar, and there are many styles to choose from now. I remember when Jon and I drove to Santa Rosa in 2009 to… Continue reading Temporarily Tiny
