15 years ago, we were living in Bishop, California and it felt like the ideal home base. We could climb, run on trails, bag peaks, ski, bike, and backpack to our hearts’ content.
I worked at Caltrans and most days, Jon would pick me up for a short trail run during lunch break. Other days, Jon enjoyed climbing with our neighbor, Joe, and putting up new routes with our friend, Greg. Our weekends were full of seasonal outdoor fun.
This was before remote work was common at tech companies. When Jon got a good job in the Bay Area, we set off with the plan to work hard and save for a house and then return to Bishop as soon as we could.
And now we are!
